Leverkusen | January 11, 2010: 500 Tons of Road Salt for the City of Krefeld
In recent weeks, freezing temperatures and snowfall have caused road salt shortages in many areas. A joint relief effort enabled the City of Krefeld to continue its professional winter road maintenance service without restriction: During the first week of January Chemion Logistik, the CHEMPARK Krefeld-Uerdingen and CURRENTA organized the supply of 500 tons of road salt. The salt had arrived by boat at the CHEMPARK where Chemion loaded it onto about 20 trucks and delivered it to the Gesellschaft für Stadtreinigung und Abfallwirtschaft (City Cleaning and Waste Management Company). The abrasives had been originally destined for a Bayer MaterialScience plant. The company was, however, able to change its arrangements, deliver it to the Krefeld winter road maintenance service department and, thus, improve the safety of Krefeld’s roads under severe winter conditions.
