Leverkusen | July 14, 2009: Chemion supports emergency aid for Italy
Together with other logistics service providers and disposal companies Chemion supports the nationwide emergency action for the disposal of 54,000 t household waste from Southern Italy. The action was approved by the NRW Ministry of the Environment in the first week of July and is based on the request for help from the Italian government, which it had directed at the European Union (EU) at the beginning of 2008. The settlement waste is transported by rail through Cologne-Kalk to Leverkusen, where it is reloaded onto trucks and then transported to five incineration plants. The action is expected to start on July 14, 2008 and will be completed by October 31, of this year.
