Leverkusen | May 11, 2010: New Dual-Mode Vehicle for Chemion
They can do both: Dual-Mode Vehicles (DMV) or road-rail vehicles can run on both roads and rails. Chemion’s Railway Section has extended its equipment by a so-called Unimog (Universal-Motor-Gerät), thus making it a total of five Dual Mode Vehicles that operate at the CHEMPARK or serve customers at other locations. Very often, these „cars on rails“ are used for on-site shunting operations. They are highly flexible since their transfer from road to rail only requires a rail-like access as it is available at every road/rail crossing. Due to its transportable front structure Chemion’s newly acquired road-rail vehicle is even more versatile than other models and hence well-suited for special tasks: Its future use will primarily be track vegetation control on behalf of Bayer CropScience.
