Leverkusen | December 15, 2008: Platform principle brings benefits
Since December 15, 2008 Chemion has converted its shunting operation to the platform principle and thereby realized benefits both for the customer DB Schenker as well as for itself: The conversion of the processes leads to significant cost savings at the customer and Chemion on its part can record additional revenue. Moreover the new concept contributes to reinforcing the traffic carrier rail. Since the end of last year DB Schenker hands over single wagons, which are determined for companies in the Dormagen, Leverkusen and Uerdingen plants, to Chemion in Cologne-Kalk north and Gremberg. The wagons are driven centrally on the Chempark site via the shunting platform “Leverkusen-South” and pre-shunted there so that the wagons can be delivered to the customers without delays. With the shunting platform as a basis Chemion will also connect further route traffic in the region in future so that the rail sector is expecting growth for the next few years.
