Leverkusen | November 27, 2008: Award for impeccable company integration management
The go-ahead for the Chemion Integration Management (ChEM) was given at Chemion Logistik two years ago. Since then an integration team has been supporting the re-integration of employees into the daily working routine. The examplary implementation was worth it: The regional environment authority Rheinland (LVR) has awarded the company a prize in the amount of Euro 10,000.
When the project team began its work in January 2006 there was a clear idea what should be achieved: „We started with the aim at the time to retain and promote the health of the Chemion employees. ChEM relates to all employees, who in a period of twelve months are incapable of working without interruption or repeatedly for longer than six weeks,“ according to Monika Gerlieb, project manager for the company health management, that at Chemion comprises the pillars of prevention and dialog, supervision and integration. „It was important for us to support these employees in taking up their professional activity again with exactly those measures which they require in their respective situation.“ This offer is very much welcomed by the workforce at Chemion: more than sixty per cent of the employees concerned have so far decided to accept the support with the re-integration. The success of the ChEM initiative has now resulted in the award of the LVR, which since 2006 has been awarding a prize to those companies which are exemplary in implementing company integration management (BEM). „We are pleased about the award which particularly represents recognition for the trust-forming work of the voluntary integration team,“ Monika Gerlieb declares.
At the beginning of the ChEM project the project team presented the program of the company re-integration in workshops and information events for various interest groups at the three locations of the logistics service provider. In order to be able to directly address and advise employees concerned a team was formed from four supporters who perform their coordination and mediator function in addition to their normal work. These four ChEM supporters, a representative from Human Resources and a representative of the joint works council form the integration team. „The health of our colleagues is very important to us. All parties involved profit from ChEM at Chemion, as the most important resource of a company are its employees“, Andrea Kraus explains, who is a member of the integration team in Leverkusen. „Particularly because of this we are very proud to be awarded a prize for our company integration management.“ The award with a value of Euro 10,000 will be used for the certification of the ChEM initiative; the audit took place on November 17, 2008 already.
Since 2004 employees have been obligated to introduce the BEM according to the Social Code IX, § 84, Par.2. Nevertheless, so far only a few companies have developed a corresponding concept for the re-integration. In the logistics industry Chemion has a assumed a forerunner role with its ChEM initiative, which from the point of view of the LVR can also set an example for other employers. The regional environment authority substantiates the award for Chemion as follows: „Bases and aims are clearly formulated with the ChEM and the concept is imbedded into a comprehensive health management. The process is transparent for the employees, data are treated confidentially and there are fixed regulations for flow and organization. Therefore, we have absolutely no reservations about describing the BEM at Chemion as a model.“
