Two new locomotives will be named
The logistics service provider and rail freight specialist Chemion Logistik has inaugurated two new high-performance locomotives at the Dormagen location. With these Chemion primarily serves additional traffic in Sauerland from December 2008, which is marked by high loads and gradients.
“We are pleased that we can now use the two locomotives, which we ordered 15 months ago, for the benefit of our customers,” Dieter Bauer, head of business segment transport at Chemion Logistik, declares. The logistics specialist has earned a good reputation in the railway industry thanks to its services in the rail segment, which it customizes to the individual requirements of shipping agents and recipients. With the new equipment Chemion is now expanding its capacities and with the new appliance now has two high-performance locomotives available which move greater loads and are particularly suitable for routes with gradients and high trailer loads.
The locomotives also stand out in the rail traffic with regard to their color: They are painted in the Chemion colors blue and red and therefore bring conspicuous colors onto the track. When the two new locomotives are named Silvia and Nicole in Dormagen today they will have already traveled several kilometers: Besides regional tasks in Rheinland they will primarily be used for transports from Schwerte to Menden in Sauerland and there will deliver pulverized lignite to a cement plant. In order to bridge the delivery time Chemion has been using interim machines on this route. In future Silvia and Nicole will now perform their service there, pull the freight wagons behind them over the tracks of the Sauerland and through their colors also be easily recognizable from far away.
