Leverkusen | October 05, 2010: Chemion offers profit-sharing model for fleet operators/“If we don’t deliver, we won’t cost a cent”.
Logistics service provider in Leverkusen further consolidates its fleet management expertise on the market

All the opportunities with none of the risks. With this as its motto, Chemion Logistik GmbH in Leverkusen has set up its own profit-sharing business model for vehicle fleets. As part of this new service, the logistics firm is using its expertise in the field of vehicle fleet management in order to test and enhance the efficiency of corporate vehicle fleets. Customers only have to pay if Chemion’s fleet consultancy service allows them to cut costs.
With its profit-sharing model for vehicle fleets, the logistics service provider in Leverkusen hopes to further consolidate its fleet management expertise on the market. As Chemion’s Head of Fleet Management, Gerd Clemens, explains, “We are taking our new product into a niche market in which few fleet management contractors are willing or able to provide. As a leading service provider in this field, we possess both the experience and the specialist capabilities required to provide this product to our customers.”
“All the opportunities with none of the risks” is the motto under which the fleet specialist intends to establish its new service among the operators of large and medium fleets. “If we don’t deliver, we won’t cost a cent,” says Clemens, putting the business model in a nutshell. The principle: as part of a detailed analysis of various fleet areas, Chemion does preliminary work and calculates potential savings. The customer then receives an offer based on this. Chemion only receives a previously agreed share when the proposals which have a positive influence on the customer’s balance sheet have been implemented in practice.
At the same time, Clemens works on the assumption that even if something is good, it can still be made better: “Under the current dynamic market conditions, factors such as demand, costs, performance and service conditions can change quickly in a vehicle fleet.” He says there is also considerable potential for savings in ongoing agreements and contracts, and in invoice control.
“One in three workshop invoices has to be queried.”
According to Chemion’s Head of Fleet Management, one of the reasons why costs may be too high are supposedly cheap all-inclusive packages which, depending on the course of events and the repairs required, often end up costing significantly more than individual invoices. in the case of warranties and, in particular, goodwill arrangements following expiry of the manufacturer’s warranty. Furthermore, items repeatedly appear in supplier invoices that are not consistent with the manufacturer’s specifications, or for example fill quantities are shown that are too great to fit in the vehicle. As Clemens says, “We find fault with a third of the workshop invoices which we check.”
“Quite apart from the fact that under our profit-sharing model customers don’t have to spend any extra money, we’re sure that we can drive costs down and create optimum conditions for the operation of a vehicle fleet. Our Fleet Check really does offer a win-win scenario and a guaranteed fair deal,” says Chemion’s Head of Fleet Management.
