Leverkusen | October 17, 2011: Chemion organizes expert forum on the topic of sustainability
On 12th and 13th October 2011 the topic at Chemion will once again be: Experience logistics live in Leverkusen. For the sixth time in a row the logistics service provider is sending out invitations to attend the expert forum LOG.lev and has once again succeeded in obtaining speakers and exhibitors from industry, science and logistics as partners for this event. This year’s LOG.lev motto: sustainability – an entrepreneurial challenge!

„We are convinced that the topic of sustainability is a forward-looking topic with a central value for the economic success of companies, that has to be viewed holistically“, explained Uwe Menzen, managing director of Chemion Logistik. „That is why we have consciously put the focus of LOG.lev on this complex of topics this time. We wish to highlight the various aspects of sustainability at the event though the top-class speakers, and to make a contribution towards drawing attention the topic.“ Chemion is also using this motto to link it to the event last year at which `sustainability in the supply chain` was one of the topics in the round of talks given by the experts to receive a particularly positive feedback from the majority of the approx. 140 participants.
In accordance with the objective of linking experts and ideas and of offering a platform for innovative solution approaches, the series of events LOG.lev is relying on a good mixture of information, discussion and networking. It has already become a tradition: on the agenda of the first day of the event is an outdoor sequence at which the LOG.lev participants cast a glance this year at the production of nkt cables. In the highly innovative plant, which has existed in CHEMPARK Leverkusen since 2010 and bears the name f2c, the largest sea cables in the world, among others, are manufactured to transmit alternating currents. On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, Chemion Logistik has come up with something special to follow the plant tour: the service provider is inviting customers, speakers, partners and journalists to take a ship tour on the MS Jan von Werth from Leverkusen to Cologne, where there will be opportunities to discuss the impressions of the day, to intensify existing contacts and to make new ones.
On the second day of the event on which Martin Willhaus, managing director of the Kühne foundation, will be the presenter, the topic of sustainability will then be examined from various angles: the speakers will present their points of view on sustainability in a concern from the chemical industry, in sourcing activities or in in-company change processes. How will the demand for freight transport services in Germany and Europe develop? How is it possible to succeed in making the sustainability of companies be understood more intensively as a part of their core business? This and other questions will be discussed by the presenters, the experts and participants. Uwe Menzen: „We are convinced that in view of the worldwide resources that are becoming increasingly scarce, a change in the way we think is necessary. Consequently, this will also have an effect on the organization of logistical processes and for this we wish to develop solutions jointly with our customers.“
