Leverkusen | October 26, 2009: Chemion’s Transport Sector Pioneers New Approaches - New division head gives a positive résumé
After holding the office of transport division head at Chemion Logistik for five months Frédéric Wanin gives a positive résumé: Numerous projects have been initiated with the aim of reducing costs in road and rail transport and in distribution as well as for the purpose of increasing capacity utilization and generating new business.
„Optimizing processes in the fields of road and rail transport as well as in distribution is a main aim of our daily work“, says Frédéric Wanin, who has been head of transport at Chemion Logistik since May 1, 2009. During the first five months at Chemion French-born Frédéric Wanin - who for 18 years had held various management positions at transport and logistics companies - and his staff have already initiated and realized numerous activities and projects. The aim of all of these activities and projects is to reduce costs, increase capacity utilization and generate new business in road and rail transport as well as in distribution. „Our goal is to better respond to the needs of existing and potential customers, tailor our service portfolio correspondingly and, thus, create the fundamental prerequisites for lasting competitive success.“
For example, the rail sector was restructured and transformed from a geographic to a highly product-oriented organization. In late August, the Chemion employees in the rail sector who had worked at different sites moved to the same building in Dormagen in order to further slim down internal processes. In July, the rail team was able to celebrate a special success: a contract stipulating the take-over of shunting services on behalf of another railway company was signed, thus, generating additional sales and increasing the utilization of the railway equipment. In the road transport sector a new working hours scheme is being developed similar to that used in the rail transport sector. It enables Chemion to further optimize the utilization of its own resources. Frédéric Wanin sees great development potential in regional rail traffic that is going to be further expanded by him and his staff. In close co-operation with the sales and distribution team he wishes to strengthen networks and attract new customers not only for this sector but also for the sectors of road transport and distribution.
Chemion’s major advantage in competing for future business lies in the location of the Leverkusen, Dormagen und Krefeld plants: the plants are located in central Germany and thus in central Europe and they are perfectly linked to national and international transport routes. In addition, the plants’ infrastructure with their terminals offers the possibility to provide all variants in combined traffic and to integrate warehousing and handling services in the process of road, rail or inland waterway transport. And Frédéric Wanin sees another key asset available to Chemion even in economically difficult times: the strong commitment of the Chemion staff. „I consider it a great and, at the same time, pleasant challenge to direct the great motivation and competence of the Chemion staff in the transport sector because together we will be able to make of lot of things happen within and, thus, for the benefit of the company.“
