Within the limits of plants it can be seen particularly clearly whether processes are organized efficiently. And therefore Chemion sees it as a challenge to coordinate a large number of individual services for its customers at the CHEMPARK locations Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld and to coordinate these to each other to an optimum extent. In order to be able to provide services from one company and to centrally control logistic processes Chemion places its bets on specialist and process know-how, a good interface management and on transparency. Therefore, also all relating to the subject of mail and KEP shipments (KEP - courier, express and parcel shipments): Chemion provides individual letter, parcel and express services for the more than ninety companies at the locations as well as for companies in the Rhein-Ruhr region and combines these upon request with additional services, which substantially relieve the work on the customers with regard to administration and coordination.

Individual services with value added

The companies based at the CHEMPARK locations receive and send more than 45,000 letters and parcels to customers, service providers, partner companies or to their internal departments every day. All of these shipments have to be packed, stamped, collected, distributed and served – time-consuming services which Chemion takes over for the companies. And companies outside of the plant site can also use the KEP services between the sender and recipient. Each company has different requirements with regard to its shipments, therefore the range of offers of Chemion is defined to the extent that each customer can compile its service packages individually: The so-called basic services include the central acceptance and sorting of the shipments, their distribution in and between the locations, proof of signature and delivery and the shipping processing of the KEP shipments. If the customer requests special errands, courier runs, the packaging and the labeling of shipments or transport insurances, then it can also agree upon these services with the service provider. As special services Chemion also offers temperature-controlled KEP shipments under which for example the shipment of diagnostic samples, chemical preliminary products or technical devices fall. And as a specialist for the handling of hazardous goods Chemion also provides all services for hazardous goods.


Free choice with regard to scope and depth

The possible choices for the customer also refer to the depth of the services: Therefore, a company can freely determine the daily frequency of the service of its mail and parcel shipments. Is one delivery and pick-up service sufficient for it per day or does it need this service more often? Is a central delivery and pick-up of its shipments at the building sufficient or does it want a special inhouse service with deliveries in individual floors or right to the desk of the recipients? This variant enables the companies free the burden on the employees of administrative activities and to assign them to productive tasks. Many companies moreover decide to also have the receipt recordings and bookings of their goods carried out by Chemion. The data entry is carried out in the SAP systems of the customers directly after the receipt of the shipments. This also applies if the data in the accompanying documents are faulty or incomplete which after all is the case with more than one third of all shipments. The tracking of shipments, the processing of complaints, the taking back of packaging or the return of false deliveries are also part of the services which companies can outsource within the framework of their parcel and letter services in order to relieve themselves of work in the daily business.
Consequently, the modular offer of Chemion leads to the fact that the customer is given a high degree of cost effectiveness and flexibility by the services which can be freely combined. Irrespective of which services and which service intensity a company decides to choose: It has in any case certainty of binding delivery times, which guarantee it planning security and it receives more detailed settlements for all services. Individual quality reports for the customers and a consistent electronic tracking of shipments for incoming and outgoing shipments additionally ensure transparency.

Additional services for additional efficiency

As a location logistician Chemion can also take over further tasks from its customers which fall under the heading “is part of the daily business – is however not the core business”: Therefore, the service provider performs for example supportive services all relating to trade exhibitions and other events as well as sample and advertising means services. Both exhibition stands as well as advertising means have the function of business cards for companies. They must be available and representative at all times, however should bind as few resources as possible in companies. This is why Chemion stores exhibition stands for companies, repairs and services these, delivers them to the venue of the event on time and also takes over their assembly and disassembly.
