Leverkusen | May 30, 2007:Chemion’s third LOG.lev platform offers a forum for the exchange of practical experience

LOG.lev or "Logistics live in Leverkusen" took place for the third time on May 9, 2007. This year, more than 75 participants from industry, science and media met to discuss current technological trends and learn about innovative logistics concepts. “The positive feedback we received last year confirmed that our focus should once again be on topics of practical relevance,” explained Ralf Thiesen, Marketing and Distribution Manager at Chemion Logistik, the initiators of LOG.lev. Chemion believes that the unique selling point of the LOG.lev event lies in the consistency of its practical approach as compared with other networking platforms. Customer benefit was not only the focus of the lectures but was also evident in the program, a colorful mixture of presentations and the exchange of practical points of view. The agenda also included a tour of the Chemiepark Leverkusen with stops at various locations throughout the park offering the participants an opportunity to experience daily logistics from inside the plant gates.

Leverkusen | March 5, 2007:Chemion Optimizes Logistics Processes

In order to strengthen its position as a contract logistician and to be able to better and proactively assist and consult its customers the logistics service provider Chemion has set up a process management division of its own. During the four-month project development phase the first step towards achieving this aim was to more closely dovetail the operative sectors and form a team of four experienced logistics experts. „The different focuses of interest of our experts allow us to more competently react to our customers’ very specific requests, no matter whether they apply, for example, to transport or to the warehousing sector “, says Ralf Thiesen, the person responsible of process management at Chemion. „This puts us in the position to even better analyze our customer’s operative logistics processes and to make them more convenient for him.“ If required, a member of the process management division will, as head of the project, identify and resolve logistic problems on site. The new division has already proved to be a success. „The fact that several of our bids have been accepted shows that customers really appreciate what we have to offer”, Thiesen says.

San Francisco | February 13 - 16, 2007:Chemion to exhibit at the Informex Trade Show, San Francisco

Chemion will be making its debut at the San Francisco Informex 2007 - the most significant trade show for medium-sized chemical companies.

In association with Cologne Bonn Business, Bayer Industry Services, ChemCologne and TÜV Rhineland Chemion will present itself with a booth and a speaking slot: "Your Logistics Requirements in Europe: CHEMION cares".

"Already at last year’s Informex, medium-sized US chemical companies had shown great interest in expanding their activities to Europe. These companies think about setting up their own production facilities in Germany. To do so, they will need a competent site logistician who also develops smart concepts to ensure the supply of their European clients. And as Ralf Thiesen, Head of Marketing and Sales, puts it: “This is where Chemion with its diversified portfolio of logistics services, ranging from sample shipment via container handling or storage to regional train traffic can be of service".

Leverkusen | December 21, 2006:Chemion receives Tronox Excellent Performance Award

Tronox Pigments GmbH, the Uerdingen-based world leader in titanium dioxide production, has distinguished Chemion Logistik as „Excellent Logistics Service Provider“. This recognition was awarded for first-class service as well as for high-quality and high-reliability logistics services. Since late July 2006, Chemion has been operating a Tronox storage and handling facility where ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is placed in intermediate storage and transloaded to road transport. Chemion had been involved in the development of the warehouse concept and the definition of process chains starting in the planning phase. Since the commencement of operations, Chemion’s tasks have included not only the loading of the salt and the preparation for transport for further use but also the management of the facility: The incoming and outgoing salt quantities have to be balanced to make sure that there is always enough room at the warehouse and to avoid unwanted interruption of the production flow.

Leverkusen | September 13, 2006:RFID-Technology at the New Terminal for Empty Containers

The new terminal for cleaned and non-cleaned empty containers at the Leverkusen Chemical Park officially started operation in brilliant sunshine on September 13, 2006. Around 100 guests gathered to take a look at the terminal equipped with the new RFID technology (Radio Frequency Identification). The RFID tags applied to the containers and the code reading unit at the terminal are designed to further optimize  logistics processes around the container. As a consequence, the container business services can be performed more safely and more efficiently tailored to the specific  needs of the clients from procurement through handling to storage, cleaning and maintenance. In addition, the optimized empty-container processes enable the park to offer more advantageous conditions to the clients.

In their addresses, Andreas Hardt, CEO of Chemion Logistik, and Dr. Heinz Bahnmüller, Manager of the Leverkusen Chemical Park, both agreed: "We have thus set the stage for supporting our clients’ future business development."
Among other things, a crane-shaped and 40 x 60 cm-sized torte contributed to the guests’ physical well-being. Gudrun Poggendorf, Plant Manager Container Handling, was the first to cut the special event cake.

Leverkusen | August 29, 2006:Five Years of Being a Strong Partner in Chemical Logistics – That was reason enough for the Chemion Logistik staff to celebrate:

On August 13, 2006, the company invited the staff of all its facilities together with their families to the Neuss port and about 1.200 guests showed up.
At the „Logistics Olympics“, adults and young guests were given the opportunity to playfully prove their logistics capabilities; either in the truck simulator, the Chemion train game or in the XXL Kicker team play.
A variety of entertainment was offered: Square dancers, male ballet shows as well as two bands - all with the participation of Chemion staff - got the guests into a great party mood.
A great number of Chemion staff actively contributed to enrich the program of the day. They showed not only their logistics talent but also their “Broadway” talent and thus made it an all-round great day.
